[Review] Voices in a Bottle

Yes yes yes so the Korean utaites (Kuripurin, Wataame, Guriri, Nobunaga, ENE) released an album called Voices in a Bottle. And my forum friend kindly shares the CD O(≧∇≦)O kyahh

Thus, this is my review.

Tracklist & Review:

Honestly, I prefer the vocaloid version to the utattemita version. Because the five of them except Guriri has the same type of voice.

The degree of similarity is like this:
Nobunaga - ENE - Wataame - Kuripurin

So Nobunaga's voice sounds like ENE, ENE's like Wataame's, and Wataame's like Kuripurin. Moreover, in Rin's part (not the bridge) Guriri uses her high girly voice, and BAM all the voices sounds similar. It's better if their voices are more diverse, like in the original songs.
(But it can't be helped, the five of them are the only korean utaites. I think whoever made the album wanted to use the "korean utaite" tag to promote the album.)

Overall, the song is very cute, as expected from OSTER Project.

Nice! I really love how Nobunaga's voice fits the jazzy feeling of the song. But I like the original song, and I love jazz, so I might be biased.
But really, Nobunaga did a good job on this one.

If we're using my theory of their voice types (Nobunaga - ENE - Wataame - Kuripurin), Wataame shouldn't have a duet with Kuripurin and yes, I still think so. Their voices are a bit similar, so the impact is not very powerful. Or is it on purpose? Because originally this song is sung by Miku alone. Do they want to make it as if there's only one person singing the song?

As expected from Kuripurin and Wataame, they did a beautiful cover of this song. But the song itself is quite slow. I'm not fond of ballad songs, so this is the kind of song that will make me asleep.

Well, it's Guriri! What more can you say! Like usual, Guriri is full of emotion and she covered this song beautifully with her own style. She has a distinct type of voice, you can immediately tell that it's her.

(I'm not really fond of Guriri's voice type though. NOO GURIRI FANS, PLEASE DON'T BASH ME. It's just a personal preference. Her voice is like Kalafina, I'm not fond of Kalafina either.)

Nonetheless, I have to admit that Guriri always did a good job on her covers, including this one.

05. Bungaku Shounen no Yuutsu (acoustic Jazz Trio Arr.) / Kuripurin
OMG THIS IS THE EPITOME OF AWESOMENESS. Okay, excuse my exaggeration, but I really really love Kuripurin's version of this song, especially because the song is very difficult to sing. The chorus is just too high and not so many people can do it right. But Kuripurin... As expected from Kuripurin, she's able to do it nicely.

But if you don't like her whiny voice, you may think it's annoying. (I love it though)

And there's no preview for this song. You have to download buy the album to listen to her awesomeness.

This is an original song, so there's no vocaloid version of this. Oh well, Nobunaga and Guriri did a very good job on this. Guriri managed to show off her powerful voice, and to make it better, Nobunaga is able to catch up with her.

Moreover, they did the right thing by pairing up Nobunaga and Guriri, because their voice types are the complete opposite, thus it sounds like they're complementing each other.

Ah, ENE's voice is beautiful, and the cover is beautiful. But really, sometimes she doesn't change the way she sings throughout the whole song, and this can make people bored. Some of my friends can't listen to the full song. Moreover she sounds like she's singing without expression, like this --> (・_・) She sounds wonderful at the bridge part, though.

The piano and strings arrangement makes it even sounds like a ballad song and I can't help but to doze off. If you love slow songs, you may like this :D

08. Mimic (Acoustic Jazz Trio Arr.) /Wataame
This is good! Okay maybe I'm a bit biased because it's jazzy but I'm usually not fond of Wataame's voice and the way she sings (sometimes she doesn't open her mouth big enough, like in the verse) but when she moved to the refrain, I was stunned. Maybe I don't listen to enough covers by Wataame, but I like how she puts in her emotion here. And her voice suits the instruments behind.

For me, it's a very good cover by her. From now on I'm a fan of Wataame :DD

Again, they never release a preview for this song, so maybe you can find somebody who ripped the album and put it in youtube or something if you want to listen to it.

09. Yes, /Nobunaga &ENE
NOOO!!! Again, from this -> (Nobunaga - ENE - Wataame - Kuripurin), Nobunaga shouldn't do a duet with ENE!!! Their voice types are very very similar, even more similar than Wataame and Kuripurin. It really feels like there's only one person singing this song.

Okay maybe Nobunaga's voice is slightly thinner than ENE, but for the untrained ears they really sound the same. What's the point of the duet then?

Both of them sound lovely though.

10. Torinoko City /ENE (re-recorded)
Honestly, I think her earlier version is slightly better. Although she's more expressive here, to me it sounds like she's annoyed.

But I've always loved ENE's Torinoko City, I still think that this is a very good cover.

11. Shinkai Shoujo / Nobunaga
It's so cute (´;ω;`)
Well, I think Nobunaga's voice and the way she sings fit this songs very well. It wont' be this good if the others sing it.

12. Lollipop Factory (hangeul version)
SO CUTEEE!!! Lolol it's a bit weird to listen to this in hangeul, because it certainly doesn't sound like k-pop songs.

Overall:
The only songs that I will play over and over again is Kuripurin's Bungaku, Nobunaga's Net Game, Wataame's Mimic, (maybe) Nobunaga & ENE's Yes, and Nobunaga's Shinkai Shoujo.

No Guriri, cos I don't like her voice type. It's personal preference, I'm not very objective towards Guriri >_< but I think if you're normal you will like her glow and DIAMOND.

This is a very good album overall. I would like to buy one :3
(I will ask my friend who's going to Japan next year to buy one for me)
